In their quest to turn Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury orange, easyCoach.co.uk, part of the Stelios Haji-Ioannou lead easy family of brands, have successfully won tendered and commercial bus services in both of these Shropshire towns.
Following the recent tendering of the Bridgnorth Town service (101) and the Shrewsbury to Bridgnorth service (436), both of these contracts are now operated by The Skiers Lodge, trading as easyCoach.co.uk.
The 436 Bridgnorth to Shrewsbury service will operate as per its current timetable; with the 101 Bridgnorth Town service operating to its existing hourly timetable. The bus operator is expected to review the operation of services, with a view to revise timetables to suit in the near future, if the need arises.
EasyCoach.co.uk commenced operation of the 101 Bridgnorth Town service from Central Buses on Tuesday 1 August 2017, and the 436 Bridgnorth to Shrewsbury service from Arriva Midlands on Saturday 2 September 2017.
Steve Davenport, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “The 101 and 436 are important and popular bus services. We are pleased to introduce a new transport operator into the Shropshire bus market, and we’re working hard to move our bus services to a more commercial footing and to reduce the cost to Shropshire Council of providing these bus services.”
