Well this is going to be a special one off post, as it was a Bank Holiday I took the time to ride the Merseytravel Tender 129 which is currently contracted to Ace Travel which is now their only daytime bus service that they operate on the Wirral Peninsula.

The route which was originally registered as a service 29 in the pre MPTE days starts on Seaview Road in Wallasey what was the first stop outside the former Wallasey Corporation Motors Garage which sadly is now an ASDA Superstore.
The route starts at Seaview Road the stop closest to Derwent Drive then through Liscard Village, Wallasey Village, along Leasowe Road past Leasowe Merseyrail Station, through Moreton Cross, then towards Upton, then veering off past Greasby along Greasby Road to Frankby Cemetery.
The service was operated by First Chester & Wirral prior to Ace Travel taking over the service on the 12th October 2008, interestingly enough both First Chester & Wirral and Ace Travel both ran the service going to the same place at the same times in what was an error in First’s behalf.

The service was usually operated using a Dennis Dart with Marshall or Plaxton Body or a Dennis Dart MPD 8.8M when the service was operated with First, nowadays nothing too much has changed really the service is usually provided with a Dennis Dart MPD 8.8M or SLF 10.7M or even an Optare Solo.
This service unlike many other services has a long history in fact the timetable hasn’t changed in over 30 years as it runs a return journey starting at Seaview Road at 14:40 and has a 25 minute break before returning from the Cemetery at 15:55 on Sundays and Bank Holidays, but not only that, it actually terminates in the Cemetery, squeezing through the gates and finishing at Frankby Hall.
