Transport operator Rosso is celebrating the start of its multi-million-pound investment to deliver amazing buses in and around Bury by offering lucky locals a one-time-only chance to become one of the town’s most familiar faces.

A small and exclusive group will be chosen from those who have their photograph taken at the launch of Rosso’s revitalised 469 ‘Tottington Line’ route in Bury town centre on Saturday, 7 April – and their faces will be seen all over town on the backs of buses on the new-look service!

Rosso’s 240 staff and 102 buses became part of the Transdev family of bus companies across Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Yorkshire in January, and the new owners are working hard to deliver on their promise of more buses, more often for Rossendale, Ramsbottom, Bury and Rochdale.

The new Rosso team is now rolling out the first phase of exciting investment plans for more and better buses, great value tickets which go further for less, and up-to-the-minute technology delivering live departure times, instant journey planning and easy-to-use mobile tickets.

Rosso’s 469 bus service links Bury and Tottington – and from Sunday 8th April, it’ll feature revitalised buses, featuring free WiFi and USB power points at every seat, and with an eye-catching new ‘Tottington Line’ name. The new-look buses will run every 10 minutes on Monday to Friday daytimes, and every 15 minutes during the day on Saturdays.

Customers on the ‘Tottington Line’ buses will also soon be able to use contactless bank cards to buy tickets on board without having to carry cash or fumble for change – creating a quicker and more reliable service for everyone.

Transdev CEO Alex Hornby said: “We’re planning a fun launch event for our revitalised Tottington Line, with lots of free giveaways and a chance to find out how we plan to change our buses in Bury for the better.

“We’re inviting people to come along and have a selfie photo taken in the driver’s seat, or in front of one of our bright new-look buses – and the best ones will become the ‘face of the Tottington Line’ and appear on the back of a bus all over Bury!

“Since we took over the route in January, we’ve already been getting a fantastic reaction on social media, as well as on board the buses, from the people of Bury and Tottington – and this is just the beginning.

“We want to attract more people to choose and use Rosso buses – there’s a lot of potential to expand the service and give the people of Bury and Tottington the reliable, comfortable and friendly service they deserve.”

Rosso’s launch of the revitalised 469 ‘Tottington Line’ service is being welcomed by Bury North MP James Frith, who said: “I’m pleased that Rosso are stepping up to the plate, and I’m encouraged that Transdev will be a responsible operator who put passengers and communities at the heart of their business. I look forward to working with them to improve bus services for the people of Bury, Tottington and Ramsbottom.”

A range of further improvements to Rosso bus services in and around Bury will also be introduced from Sunday 8 April 2018, including:

·       More journeys on services 467 and 468 between Bury and Rochdale, with a bus every 10 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes between Bury, Fairfield Hospital and Jericho. Revitalised buses will be introduced to further improve these services later this year

·       A new 481 route linking Bury with Rawtenstall, Haslingden, the Royal Blackburn Hospital and Blackburn every hour, replacing the current 244 service

·       A new express link from Ramsbottom direct to Manchester on Red Express X41, which will additionally serve Edenfield, Stubbins and Ramsbottom for the first time, on its way from Accrington and Haslingden.

·       Minor timetable changes to help improve timekeeping on a number of other routes serving the town.

More detailed timetables will be available soon from bus stations and via the Rosso website.

Full timetable information and live departure updates will also be available via the innovative Transdev Go smartphone app, which also offers users the ability to buy and use a range of tickets instantly – including great value ‘Rosso Rover’ day, weekly and monthly tickets valid on any Rosso bus, plus on the Witchway express between Rawtenstall and Burnley and the Red Express between Haslingden and Accrington.
