Arriva Manchester’s area managing director, Phil Cummins, has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to engineering practices by a prestigious national industry awards scheme.
The former regional engineering director was presented with the ‘engineer of the year’ title at the routeONE Excellence Awards last week, for his dedication to delivering strong and strategic leadership and clear understanding of the challenges facing all bus engineers.
Having been applauded as a consummate professional with a clear vision, Phil collected his accolade during a national ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, Birmingham on 30th September.
Upon presenting the award, the judges commented: “Although excellence was shown amongst all four candidates, our winner impressed with his all-round achievements that have underpinned his significant career progression. In particular, he has shown that very high standards can be matched with proven ability to drive through some of the industry’s most noteworthy innovations.”
Phil Stone, regional managing director, Arriva North West and Wales, added: “Its Phil’s exceptional contribution, above and beyond that expected of him that sets him apart from the rest. Winning this award clearly demonstrates that he is not only a true professional and an inspiring ambassador for the Arriva business but throughout the wider industry too. We are incredibly proud of all his achievements.”
The annual routeONE Excellence Awards aim to identify and reward the best operators and people in the coach, bus and minibus sectors. Among the 16 categories, there are just five that celebrate individual achievement.
