Arriva’s botanical bus is in full bloom as the 2019 Southport Flower Show looms. This summer’s annual event marks the shows 90th anniversary and to celebrate the occasion there will be a giant garden party in Southport’s Victoria Park.

Arriva North West has recently updated its services in Southport and throughout Merseyside and Greater Manchester to include contactless payments, helping to make travel around the North West as easy as possible.

Passengers may even find themselves travelling on the special botanical bus – an Alexander Dennis Enviro400 registered YX64 VPU – which has been decorated in huge flowers and will be seen on the streets of Southport this summer.

At this year’s festival, which opens on Thursday 15th August, there will be an Arriva garden, with another bus which takes visitors on a journey back in time.

The time travel bus will feature a film showing the history of the Southport Flower Show down the decades using archive footage.

There will also be Arriva Angels on site each day to help visitors learn more about Arriva bus services in the Southport area.

The sponsorship of the festival comes as part of Arriva’s wider community work across Southport.

Arriva North West’s Head of Marketing, Lisa Pearson, said: “We are always looking for ways to support the local community and we know how important the Southport Flower Show is to people in Merseyside and the wider North West region.

“Our services offer the people of Southport a convenient and comfortable journey, allowing them to relax and enjoy everything the show has to offer.”

Ray Roukin, General Manager of Southport Flower Show said:” It’s a special year for the Southport Flower Show and we’re really pleased to have Arriva on board. Visitors are invited to THE Garden Party to celebrate our 90th anniversary in style.”

People attending will be able to travel to the festival via Arriva services across Southport, and there will be a shuttle bus available at Southport railway station (route 27 on show days only) and this year children’s return tickets are absolutely free.

Arriva will also be running a Park-and-Ride service from Birkdale Common.

The Festival takes place from 15th to the 18th of August, in Victoria Park, Rotten Row, Southport, PR8 2BZ. For further information and to plan your visit
