After operating for 364 days in 2018, providing additional rail replacement buses, and introducing new routes, Arriva has revealed the extent of its work connecting communities across the region in 2018.

Providing over 230 bus services across the North West and Wales region, Arriva has revealed its buses travelled over 44 million miles carrying, on average, nine million passengers every month throughout 2018.

The bus company’s hard work doesn’t end there, with over 40,000 hours of rail replacement bus services provided between January and December, Arriva successfully helped to keep communities in the likes of Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester connected throughout the year.

Phil Stone, regional managing director commented: “It’s extremely promising to see the number of people travelling by bus every month, something which we hope to see increase to help contribute to reducing carbon emissions and road congestion.

“In 2019, we ask people to consider switching up their daily commute to give the bus a go, so that we can continue our efforts in working towards creating a more eco-friendly environment.”

In addition to transporting people across the North West and Wales, Arriva also donated to a range of charities including Zoe’s Place, where drivers raised a total of £24K alone through a charity golf fundraising match that took place in June 2017.

2018 also saw Arriva shake up the paintwork on its buses to show support to local communities, including the rainbow designs which were unveiled on two of its buses to support the LGBT community during PRIDE in June. Arriva also named one of its buses in memory of comedy legend Sir Ken Dodd from Knotty Ash who passed away in March 2018.

Arriva’s impressive ridesharing service ArrivaClick was introduced back in September 2018 creating 15 new driving jobs in the Liverpool City Region. Due to the success, the ArrivaClick service hours were extended in December 2018 creating a total of 27 new driving jobs in Liverpool.

Phil added: “We would like to say a big thanks to all of our drivers for their outstanding contribution throughout 2018.

“We look forward to another successful year and hope that we can continue connecting communities and show our support to even more great causes.”
