Arriva North West has added five brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMC buses to its North Liverpool services, offering passengers modern, environmentally-friendly buses with free WiFi and USB charging points.

Recently, passengers on Arriva North West services between Old Roan Interchange and Liverpool City Centre have benefited from the introduction of five brand new state of the art double deck buses, which have improved both capacity and passenger comfort alike.

As the first brand new buses delivered to Arriva North West’s Bootle Depot in two years, these brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMCs continue the influx of double decked buses on services in Liverpool. With the 55 service being the ninth route operated by Arriva on Merseyside to be converted from single deck to double deck operation in the past two years alone.

On the outside, the new buses sport Arriva’s new standard livery, with these being first new vehicles to be delivered to the division in the new light blue based design broken with a two tone swooping line. The new livery has been introduced on a low cost basis, a refresh to the identity that retains the essence of Arriva and supports the company’s growth plans.

Once passengers have stepped on board, they can find E-Leather seating, CCTV screens, complimentary WiFi provided by Icomera’s Moovbox and USB charging points – so passengers can stay connected whilst on the move, all from the comfort of their seat. All of these features are now standard on all new Arriva North West buses, as part of the Liverpool City Region Bus Alliance agreement with Arriva North West, Merseytravel and Stagecoach Merseyside.

Underneath, these new Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMCs are powered by Euro VI emissions compliant Cummins ISB6.7 six cylinder engines, which are coupled to four-speed Voith D854.6 transmissions. The new buses are also fitted with stop start technology – which can cut fuel consumption by 10%, particularly when the bus would otherwise be idling at a bus stop.

As per standard with the interior, the on board seating is provided by Isringhausen with their Civic seats, of which 30 seats (including 3 tip up seats) are on the lower deck and 43 seats on the upper deck. These provide for a pretty comfortable ride, particularly on urban routes such as the 55 service.

For our enthusiast readers, the registrations of the new vehicles are as follows: YX17 NFH (4693), YX17 NFJ (4694), YX17 NFK (4695), YX17 NFL (4696) and YX17 NFM (4697).
