Howards Travel Group have recently added a two Alexander Dennis Enviro 200s and a high-specification Optare Metrocity to its growing fleet for services in Cheshire.
Howards Travel Group have recently added their first brand new buses to the fleet since starting their operation 12 years ago. The family firm operates a fleet of modern buses and coaches across Warrington, Widnes and Runcorn.
Howards have purchased a 65-plate ADL Enviro200 to their fleet, they have also gained a 66-plate ADL Enviro200 on a five-year lease from Mistral Bus & Coach, and both have recently been joined by a new high-specification 66-plate Optare Metrocity.
The newest of the Alexander Dennis Enviro200s is 8.9m long, it comes with the Cummins iSBe 183kW, Euro 5 engine, and seats up to 29 passengers. The saloon is finished to a standard Mistral specification, with navy blue moquette and yellow grab poles. It is expected these will operate on route 200 linking Manchester Airport Viewing Park with Wilmslow.
The Optare Metrocity is 10.8m long, it comes with the 115kW Mercedes, Euro 5 engine, and seats up to 40 passengers. The saloon is finished to a high standard with navy blue and cream e-leather seating and wood effect flooring. It will primarily operate on route 289 from Knutsford to Altrincham.
Ian Howard, Managing Director at Howards Travel Group, told Optare, “We were extremely impressed by the performance and build quality of the demo Metrocity vehicle we trialled earlier this year. Our new Metrocity has only just gone into service but we are already seeing a 13% improvement in fuel efficiency when compared to other single deck vehicles within our fleet operating on that route.”
As a side note, Howards Travel is holding a Double Decker Running Day on Saturday 28th January 2017. The company intends to use all available double deck buses in service on the day with proceeds from the event going to charity. Tickets are priced at £10 and can be purchased by emailing Howards Travel.
