On Friday the 24th of January, Arriva Midlands launched a batch of seven brand new VDL SB200 with Wrightbus Pulsar 2 bodywork at the Tesco Supermarket in Cefn Mawr, which have been added to its 2/2A/2C routes between Cefn Mawr, Oswestry and Wrexham.
The event also marked the start of the naming competition for pupils at the school that will see them name the buses. Staff at the supermarket were also given the opportunity to name a bus, coming up with ‘Kevin’ after its pink dinosaur mascot.
The seven VDL SB200s are registered FL63 DXT (3785), FL63 DXU (3786), FL63 DXV (3787), FL63 DXW (3788), FL63 DXX (3789), FL63 DXY (3790) and FL63 DXZ (3791). The new vehicles are fitted with CCTV, leather look seating and LED lighting, as well as a buggy and wheelchair area.
Arriva had last invested in the 2/2A/2C series of routes back in 2005, which two Alexander Dennis Dart 10.7Ms with Alexander Dennis Pointer 2’s FJ55 BVT (2378) and FJ55 BVU (2379) were introduced. The new vehicles on the 2/2A/2C finally entered service on the Friday 7th of February.
With these new vehicles now operating these services, the previous vehicles that had previously operated the routes are heading elsewhere with Arriva Midlands, with former vehicles such as Alexander Dennis Darts and VDL SB120 Wright Cadets having their branding removed prior to being redeployed on other routes.
