Transdev Blazefield has invested £3 million in a sparkling new fleet of 20 buses for Rosso’s 464 service, which links Accrington, Haslingden, Rawtenstall, Bacup and Rochdale.

Proudly built in the North by Optare, each of the new Optare Versa buses are packed with customer-friendly features. On the outside the outside there’s an illuminated ‘464’ logos to make sure you can’t miss these proper reet good buses – and a specially-designed livery featuring local people going to work, school or the shops.

The high standards continue inside the vehicles too, including fast free WiFi, USB power points at every seat, wireless charging for compatible mobile devices and skylights in the roof to let more natural light in, as well as many more creature comforts. James Grundy’s recent 464 article goes into much more detail on the specification of these buses.

Transdev CEO, Alex Hornby said: “When Rosso joined the Transdev family at the start of 2018, we promised an immediate investment in brand new, high spec vehicles in our first year, and here we are doing it on a new look 464 which is the lifeline bus route for Rossendale, connecting people to work, school and leisure opportunities. Our track record in Lancashire and across the North is all about growth and innovation to attract more people to discover the benefits of choosing the bus, freeing up our towns of congestion with lower emission solutions.

“We’re looking forward to hearing from our customers to find out what they like about the new buses, and it has been great to hear all the positive feedback so far.”

Hyndburn MP, Graham Jones joined councillors and invited guests at a preview of the new buses on Friday 26th October 2018 before the first of the new vehicles entered service on the 464 route on Sunday 28th October 2018.

MP for Hyndburn, Graham Jones said: “I’m really pleased that Transdev are investing in local buses. These buses are a significant upgrade on the current 464 fleet offering free Wi-fi and debit card payment”.
