Nigel Featham has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Go North West, the new Go-Ahead bus business in Greater Manchester.
Nigel joins from Arriva where he led the North East, Yorkshire and Yorkshire Tiger bus operations over the past ten years, achieving strong passenger and revenue growth and consistently high levels of customer satisfaction.
Go-Ahead’s entry into the North West market has been facilitated by the recent £11.2 million acquisition, from First Bus, of the 160-vehicle Queens Road bus depot predominately serving central Manchester, the north of the city and Salford.
David Brown, Chief Executive of the Go-Ahead Group said, ‘We are delighted to welcome Nigel to the business with the regional expertise and customer focus that he brings’. Go-North West is a significant growth opportunity for Go-Ahead and I am confident that Nigel will bring invaluable and inspiring leadership to the team in Manchester’.
Nigel Featham added: ‘The North West is going to be one of the most dynamic theatres of public transport evolution in the next few years, and to be in at the ground floor with Go-Ahead is the sort of opportunity that is too good to turn down. ‘I can’t wait to start working with the team and our stakeholders’.
Nigel is no stranger to the North West however, as he previously held positions at Warrington Borough Transport where he successfully led the business as managing director for almost nine years. Prior to that, Nigel was operations director at Preston Bus and has a depth of knowledge and experience of the transport industry.
