Manchester’s newest bus company, Go North West, urged customers, and the whole of the city, to make better use of their extra hour in bed this weekend.
As the clocks went back on Sunday Go North West asked that instead of snuggling in for that ‘extra hour’ people started thinking about how to use that time and donate it to Manchester.
Nigel Featham, managing director for Go North West, explains: “We know how precious people’s time is, we all have such busy lives, but we wanted to get everyone thinking about how we can all use the hour in a really positive way. One of our goals is to celebrate the areas where we run buses and in turn, the people that live in them. #MyManchesterHour not only reflects the values that are so important to us, but it also demonstrates that it is our customers and colleagues that will always take centre stage.”
So far the people of Manchester have pledged everything from checking on elderly neighbours, taking neighbours’ dogs for walks while they’re at work, litter picking their streets to keep Manchester ‘as beautiful as it is’, to gardening for a whole street.
Bus drivers at Go North West’s historic Queens Depot have joined in too, visit Twitter @gnwbus to see customer and colleague pledges.
