Proud local proves visual disability is no barrier to happy travels as she welcomes customers on board £3 million new buses.
Her voice is destined to become one of the best known in Rossendale and Rochdale – meet Hannah Woodfin, the friendly new voice of bus operator Rosso’s all new 464!
Hannah, from Rochdale, has been selected to provide on-board audio announcements for the brand new fleet of £3 million fleet of buses for the service, which links Accrington, Haslingden, Rawtenstall, Bacup and Rochdale.
A fleet of brand new, high-spec buses is coming soon to Rosso’s 464 route, proudly built in the North and packed with customer-friendly features, including fast and free WiFi, USB power points and wireless charging for mobile devices.
And Hannah’s voice has been captured at a specially-arranged VIP recording session at the studios of Drystone Radio, to make sure the new buses sound every bit as amazing as they look.
Hannah says: “I saw the competition to become the voice of Rosso’s 464 bus on Facebook and decided to give it a go. I’m blind and epileptic and so I rely on the announcements when I’m travelling, so I know how important it is to have a clear, local voice that everyone, where we live, can understand.
“It’s sometimes not fair to ask the bus driver to remember where I need to leave the bus – and the great thing about these announcements is I don’t have to ask for help, it gives me and plenty of others our independence back.
“I had a great time recording the announcements at Drystone Radio, and I can’t wait to hear them on the amazing new buses on their way for the 464 – it’s so exciting to be the voice so many people will get to know!”
Alex Hornby, Chief Executive of Rosso’s parent company Transdev, says: “We wanted someone with a warm, clear and friendly local voice to provide simple announcements on our new buses – welcoming our customers on board and telling them when their stop is coming up.
“Hannah’s voice is just what we’ve been looking for and the fact that she knows how these announcements really make a positive difference makes her the ideal choice. She’s now destined to become one of the most familiar voices in Rossendale and Rochdale, and we’re very proud to have Hannah as the voice of our all new buses on the 464.”
Hannah’s VIP recording session for Rosso comes after the bus company invited locals to take part in a photoshoot at Rawtenstall Bus Station earlier this month – with the best photos destined to appear on its brand-new buses when they enter service on the 464 later this year.
