Stagecoach Manchester has brought festive cheer around the region this Christmas as it took its Santa’s Grotto bus on a tour of the region visiting charities, community organisations and food banks.
Stagecoach’s very own Santa and supporting elves took the festive-themed bus on the road, bringing entertainment, presents and seasonal cheer to children’s charities, Butterflies Bereavement Group and Parents & Tots group in Wythenshawe. The visits were organised through Stagecoach Manchester’s partnership with Forever Manchester – its new charity of the year.
The festive bus first visited the Butterflies Bereavement Group, which brings people together to both remember their loved ones and offer support and help where needed.
Fellow Wythenshawe group, Parents and Tots, also enjoyed a visit of Santa and his elves. The group, which is run by local residents, meet at Benchill Community Centre once a week and do arts and crafts activities, baking and sensory play for little ones.
Following its visit to Wythenshawe, the bus headed to the Stockport Foodbank in Hazel Grove. The Stockport depot hosted a week-long food drive and thanks to the generosity of both customers and employees, Stagecoach’s Santa was able to deliver supplies to the foodbank in the Christmas bus.
Elisabeth Tasker, Stagecoach Manchester managing director, said: “There are many people in need across Greater Manchester and it’s important we come together and lend a hand where we can.
“Through our work with Forever Manchester, we are able to help put a smile on people’s faces who deserve it most this Christmas. As well as that, the support from both our staff and the local community has been fundamental in allowing us to provide supplies to help those who need it this Christmas.
“The Stockport Foodbank does great work all year round and I’d like to thank those at the organisation who work tirelessly to help others, as well as our staff and customers for their generosity in giving supplies.”
