With passenger numbers reaching a record 29 million in the past year, Manchester Airport is continuing to invest significantly in modern, low emission vehicles that transport thousands of passengers to and from the airport’s cars parks, while also supporting airside activities at its three terminals.

The latest vehicles to join their 72-strong fleet of buses are two 10.8m Enviro200 single decks built by Alexander Dennis Limited. Both are fully equipped with extensive luggage racks and capable of carrying up to 60 passengers.

The two new buses have been specified with ADL’s comfortable SmartSeats and are powered by Cummins ISBe four-cylinder 180PS Euro6 engines with Allison S2100 transmissions. They also have increased CCTV cameras for security reasons.

Kevin Hainey, Head of Motor Transport at Manchester Airport, comment: “Our aim is to consistently operate modern, eco-friendly vehicles that enable quick, easy, low entry access, while also providing adequate seating, standing room and luggage areas for those transferring to and from flights.

“As we operate non-stop services, 24 hours of every day, it is also important that our buses are fuel-efficient, highly manoeuvrable and easily maintained. The Enviro200 meets that criteria, hence it continues to play a significant role in our transport operations in and around the airport.”
