Just six months since the first ever VAMOOZ trip, and over 50 trips later, the people of Merseyside join those in Yorkshire, Lancashire and Reading suggesting and booking crowd-funded trips on the app.

The creators of the app-based transport service, the Harrogate-based bus operator Transdev Blazefield, have an ambitious plan that will see the innovative transport service roll out across the whole of the UK.

“We all know the challenges of our industry and need to innovate to meet them head-on. VAMOOZ does just that and, as well as offering something new to our current customers, is a great way to engage more people.— Andrew Cawley, PeoplesBus

The VAMOOZ concept was launched back in May 2017 with three sold-out trips to the One Love Manchester concert. It has quickly become a success with high demand and expansion into schools and leisure markets, particularly in Lancashire and Yorkshire where Transdev Blazefield has operations.

Following on from the partnership with Reading Buses back in July, Liverpool based bus company PeoplesBus is the latest company to partner with Transdev to offer this unique travel experience to even more people of the North West, with upcoming destinations such as Blackpool and the Lake District.

The unique crowd-funded travel service offers customers a choice of trips, with prices that reduce as each ticket is booked, as well as the opportunity to suggest their own trips. The more people who travel on each trip, the lower the price becomes for everyone.

VAMOOZ Manager, Rebecca Reeve-Burnett said: “Since we successfully launched our partnership with Reading Buses in the summer, we’ve been speaking to other bus and coach operators across the country about doing the same elsewhere.

“PeoplesBus really impressed us with their ideas for how VAMOOZ could work on Merseyside so I’m delighted to be announcing this new partnership. PeoplesBus now have exclusivity to use the VAMOOZ brand in the area so they’ll be the face of VAMOOZ for the people in Liverpool and the surrounding areas.”

The deal to bring VAMOOZ to Merseyside has been welcomed as a huge boost to the local public transport offer by PeoplesBus Managing Director Andrew Cawley: “I’ve been following VAMOOZ with interest since the app launched and it’s been great to see it go from strength to strength in these early months. Being a part of this groundbreaking solution in our industry is an exciting development for our company and brings great benefits to our existing customers too.”

“We all know the challenges of our industry and need to innovate to meet them head-on. VAMOOZ does just that and, as well as offering something new to our current customers, is a great way to engage more people.”

Transdev Blazefield has reviewed passenger details from their VAMOOZ trips so far and believes that over 75% are new customers rather than existing regular bus users. This is certainly a promising start for such a risk-laden, yet undoubtedly innovative concept in modern day bus travel.

What’s more, payment is made securely via the VAMOOZ app. It is available to download free via the Apple App Store for iOS device users or Google Play for Android devices. Everyone gets £5 off their first trip – no promo code needed!
